Brett's Camera System - 1/1/08
Canon EOS 1D Mark II (x2)
This is my main camera for sports and anything fast moving. It is a great image, decent performance, and really fast. I also
like the file backup availability with two card slots for weddings and other events that cannot be "redone".
Canon 40D
I just got this before Christmas and am totally blown away with every aspect of this body. The image is the best I have seen from Canon, the AF is pretty
good, and the feel and function are right up there with "pro" bodies.
Canon 10D
This camera may not be a "pro" camera, but the images it produces are still pretty nice. Mainly used as a remote in basketball these days.
Canon EF400mm F2.8 IS
I have had the Nikon 300/2.8 AFS and 400/2.8 AFS. This lens blows them out of
the water. The autofocus is amazing and believe it or not, the image
stabalizer has come in handy a few times. I could not get by without this
lens.
Canon EF24-105 f/2.8 IS L
This is my all around lens. Great for weddings, and anything else where you need to go from wide to tele without time to switch lenses.
Also, the IS on this lens comes in handy in low light situations.
Canon EF70-200mm F2.8
Not sure what to say about this lens... probably the most widely used lens
canon makes. Optics are great and it is built like a tank. I take this with
me wherever I go! I actually have two of these lenses, one is my main lens and I have a beat up one
I use for remotes in basketball, baseball, hockey, etc...
Canon EF50mm F1.4
A 50mm lens is a must have for any photographer. Not only are they fast and sharp, but
they are one of the cheapest lenses you can buy. A standard 50mm f/1.8 might run you $80.
Try finding any other lens in this price range to compare to the optical quality of a 50mm.
If you have the money, it might be worth buying a f/1.4 or even f/1.0. I find the f/1.4 is a happy
medium which lands you in the $300 range.
Canon EF16-35mm F2.8
Good wideangle zoom. 16mm is still pretty wide on a digital body (1.3x at least). Not the sharpest lens in the world, but it gets the job done.
Canon EF85 F1.8
Mainly used for available light photography at weddings and for childrens portraits. Put this on the 40D and you have a 135mm f/1.8. Not bad!
Canon EF28-105mm F3.5-4.5
This is a good all around lens if you don't want to cary a bunch of stuff... also a backup to the 24-105mm.
Sigma 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye
Well, I have never been a fan of aftermarket lenses, but this one is pretty
good. How often do I use a fisheye? Not very often! At less than half
the price of the Canon equivalent, I was sold on this lens.
